1. for anyone who’s new here:

hi!! this is me! I’m a Muslim WOC, waddup and enjoy The Content! feel free to let me know (kindly) if I’m spreading any false information of any kind!

I don’t usually tag anything except for my own reference. If you would like and it is feasible for me to do, I can tag for other things that are triggering for you, but please ask kindly and with consideration!

Also please let me know if I’ve been hacked or am sending you messages that are scams. it’s Definitely Not Me lmao

minors are welcome here but I am over 25 and that may change (don’t think so but maybe), so follow at your own risk.

I tend to block empty blogs that have no icon. it ain’t personal, just can’t tell if you’re a bot.

I also block on sight if you tell people to kill themselves. What’s wrong with you.

I do my best where I can to support and uplift all marginalized folk including and especially trans (dysphoric or not!), intersex, GNC, BIPOC, ace/aro, Jewish, autistic, disabled (all of u!), and sex workers (if there’s anyone I’ve missed I will add them in!) 💝

if you’ve chosen consciously that you will not uplift any of the aforementioned groups, and in fact you actively shove them in the dirt, which also means by proximity (think policing, systemic issues such as that), you are not welcome here.

additionally, if you are pro-sh/i/p, you also aren’t welcome here. hate to burst your bubble but nothing exists in a vacuum and your choices to ship any and all content, or allow all shipped content, do in fact have consequences in the real world.

The RSF is cutting internet and communications in Sudan.

    image

Someone reached out to Mirna regarding esims for Sudan. Hopefully she or someone else can get something sorted out soon

    image

The cutting off of communications will make it so that many won’t be able to access the banking and money from loved ones to help them. It also means that the RSF will more than likely commit even more massacres and destruction knowing that the world won’t be able to see or hear what is happening

A textile manufacturer in Scotland has recreated the oldest-known piece of Scottish tartan ever found, which was buried for centuries.

Discovered approximately forty years ago in a peat bog, the Glen Affric Tartan underwent testing organized by The Scottish Tartans Authority last year to confirm it was the oldest surviving piece of tartan, dating back to between 1500-1600 CE.

Re: blorbo from my research, here is my favorite ever case study. I’m obsessed with it.

    Summary:

    - Guy presents to neurology with muscle issues, very clearly has something going on but diagnostic tests are inconclusive

    - History is mostly unremarkable. Key word, mostly. He drinks four liters of plain Earl Grey tea per day. For context this is nearly twice the recommended daily fluid intake. All fluids, to be clear, not just tea. He only drinks tea tho

    - Bergamot is known to be phototoxic in high doses (reacts badly on your skin with sunlight)

    - APPARENTLY nobody previously has consumed enough of it for it to be widely known that it is also, apparently, mildly toxic to ingest in high doses

    - Guy starts drinking plain black tea again. Only 2 liters this time (he didn’t have a medical reason to drink that much tea, he just liked it) and so now he’s fully recovered

PLEASE READ!!! I DON’T POST STUFF LIKE THIS AND THIS IS SERIOUS TO ME! ELON MUSK IS TRYING TO DUMP THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OF WASTE WATER INTO THE LAGUNA MADRE IN SOUTH TEXAS!!!

The Laguna Madre is a beautiful ecosystem that houses so many species of wild life and many migratory species of shore birds go there to eat and rest. Its all thanks to the sea grass that grows there, and after the big freeze of Texas in 2021, it is slowly making its recovery and now it’s in danger again!

    image

(Black Skimmer with chicks shown here)

If Elon continues with this disguising act, nitrogen and hydrogen rich waste will be dumped and plankton and algae will begin to overpopulate and create a cloud of themselves over the sea grass causing it to not get the sunlight it needs to photosynthesize. It will basically be suffocated by the overpopulation of microorganisms and die out and so many species of animals will lose that shelter they need to feed, breed and even escape dangers like predators. This grass also feeds the endangered green sea turtle and was even given the name “Turtle Grass” for its huge importance to these creatures.

    image

    (Green Sea Turtle grazing)

Not only that, but the South Padre Island is one of the largest ports in America and has many shrimping and fishing companies that rely on the environment to make a minimum wage. And once the water gets polluted, so many people can get sick or worse if they eat the fish and shrimp that have been exposed to it!

    image

    (South Texas Shrimping Boats)

This is serious! And if you or someone you know lives in Texas there is a way you can make a comment and state how you DON’T WANT LITERAL SLUDGE IN THE OCEAN! IT WILL HURT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND ANIMALS AND THE VAST AND DIVERSE ECOSYTEM THEY LIVE IN!

You can find the link here:

PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN! WE CAN’T LET MUSK DO THIS!!!

The permit number is WQ0016342001. You’ll need the permit number to submit a comment to the TCEQ.

i just finished reading dungeon meshi and would like to state:

if you have been under the impression up to this point that dungeon meshi is a low stakes found family slice of life about quirky fantasy friends talking about food (like i did before i read it), i’d like to tell you that it is not that. those moments of found family enjoying a meal are surrounded by a harrowing and grim journey through a terrifying labyrinth designed to kill them, and throughout the 97 chapters comprising it from start to end, I cannot think of a single page that didn’t contain vital story information that mattered.

it is an expertly and lovingly crafted odyssey with fantasy world building so thorough with consistent logic that the properties of the magic in their world fell extremely comfortably into the part of my brain that understands things like gravity and light particles. it’s really good shit.

extra things that make it worth recommending:

keeping in the theme of “no wasted panels”, theres also no wasted time, setting up the premise and end goal that will encompass the entire story in the first chapter. as someone who watches a lot of anime who dilly-dally in getting to the point, i found this very refreshing.

also, the main character is written to be autistic in an extremely believable way, and i dont mean that in a “its my headcanon!” way, i mean it in a “the vast majority of character conflicts he has directly involve his inability to communicate, even though to him he speaks very plainly and directly as best as he can” and a “his niche obsession that other people cannot understand and find offputting is something that gives him a great deal of joy, and his passion and competence in it gives him strength that other people can’t and seemingly refuse to try to understand” way. as someone with The Same Problems, i found myself having a deep love for his character at the end. like, he is really something else.

if i keep thinking about it i could make this list a mile long honestly, its a really very good story.

  15. one-abuse-survivor:

Abusers have human sides to them too.

When abuse, whether real or fictional, is talked about in media, one of two things usually happens. The abuser is either completely dehumanised and painted as an evil caricature, or given a tragic backstory that makes the victim feel so sorry for their abuser they end up forgiving them.

And I think this is part of why it can be so hard to believe we ourselves are going through abuse. Because when it’s you going through it, you see the human side of your abuser too. You see them cry, and laugh, and overcome adversity, and be vulnerable, and feel scared and small. You see them struggle and you see them genuinely try to spend quality time with you, and you see them show the ways they love you. Sometimes, you can even see that they mean it when they say they love you.

And because we’ve been taught that “actual” abusers are all bad, heartless, merciless, and lacking in humanity, and everyone else is just a suffering person who hurt others because they were hurting inside, we think what we’re going through can’t possibly be abuse. We think we’re exaggerating, or being weak, or selfish. We punish ourselves for not being more understanding of what they’re going through. We convince ourselves we’re making it all up and we’re the monsters in our own story.

But we’re not. We’re just not used to acknowledging that abusers are human, and that their humanity does not negate their abuse.

If you’ve ever questioned your abuse because your abuser was struggling, or genuinely loved you, or was trying their best, or expressed conflicting emotions, or was abused themselves, this post is for you. I believe you. I believe what happened to you was abuse. Their circumstances did not justify their actions.

I believe you, and you are not alone.
